Gustav Cavallin is a Stockholm-based film director, cinematographer and photographer. Raised in the quiet landscapes of the Swedish countryside, his work is rooted in a deep sensitivity to place, often exploring themes of longing, isolation, and human connection.
He is known for crafting immersive visual experiences that blend the poetic with the raw. With a background in freeski filmmaking and extensive experience in remote, natural environments, Gustav brings a unique physicality and atmospheric depth to his work.
His debut feature documentary Längtan till Áhkká, developed under the mentorship of director Ruben Östlund, traces a meditative journey through the Arctic wilderness, earning praise for its emotional intimacy and cinematic scope.
As co-founder of the acclaimed creative collective The Bunch, he has directed campaigns for brands like Adidas and Houdini always working with a tactile, documentary sensibility.
Gustav moves fluidly across disciplines—direction, cinematography, editing, and sound design—treating each layer as part of the storytelling. His work invites viewers to slow down, pay attention, and feel the weight of a moment.
